As you all know, this is my second portrait in oil......even though I did my studies before starting to sketch, I struggled a lot to get the proper shades ...and shape.
Please comment me how you view and what mistakes are visible to your eyes, ...it is so much to me to correct my mistakes in my next portrait.

From your profile photo I see that you have captured likeness of yourself and your son beautifully and I am sure for your hubby too :))
This is a very nice work. I liked it. I like how everyone has different expressions. If I have to give a suggestion it would be for the darks. They looka little monotonous. A little variation in the darks can help.
This kind of paintings, are very difficult to assess.
As regarding the faces: complete succesful!!The clothing is asking for more attention(color)to dark.

Meera:-thanks a lot meera, everyone who saw the picture told me that my hubby is ok but I palyed bad with myself and my kid.
Prabal:-Thanks a lot ...will try to correct it in my next painting.
Willy:-thanks willy....will try to correct it .
Anu - I think you've done a great job with this painting. The only things that stood out to me were the whites of the eyes seemed a touch too white and the hair on you and your son could use a few highlights, as you have done on your husband. Skin looks great.
This is a lovely painting and you've captured a good likeness with you and your son.
In my opinion, hair and clothing is much too dark and eyes are very white. In life, eyes are round, so in a painting these need shadow too.
NYZ .
Anu congratulations on a job well done. I think the faces are very good and you make them look realistic. As with the others i could only suggest a bit of variety in the darks. They are pretty stark.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. It is always so nice to see you there. Your comments are greatly appreciated. I am working in the studio just now and took a wee break to see what all the wonderful bloggers are up to. So nice to see your own blog. You are a dedicated artist with a great desire to learn.
Blessings to you and your family. Ross

Ross- thanks for your nice comment...thanks a lot.
Hello Anu, your portrait is lovely just as it is. Wonderful job. Thank you for following my blog.
Portraits aren't easy to do but you captured the likeness very well. I love the background color because it made you and your family stand out. I would put grey instead of white in their eyes. But, I think you did a wonderful job Anu!!
Anu, thanks for visiting and commenting. What are you working on now?
Hi Anu,
I came to your blog from your comment on another one while doing some reading on Patachitra.
You have an absolutely lovely hand in painting.
I am trying to build a small online platform for promoting/selling Patachitras. They originate from a place close to my home town.
Would be very glad if you can visit my site and give me some feedback on what things i can improve by leaving a comment there.

beautiful paintings
Anu, thanks for visiting my blog. I once took a course in painting portraits. Painting the eye is the most difficult part! The skin tones in your painting are very nice--lots of shadows and lights that make them look "round". The whites of the eyes should have more shades of color also. I found a tutorial that you may find helpful. http://current.com/1cf964c
Good luck on your current paintings!
Obrigado Anu! Já estou te seguindo e gostei muito do seu ultimo quadro parabéns!
Abraço

In regard to your portrait painting question, have you ever read the book by Harley Brown called, "Eternal Truths for Every Artist"? It is a wonderful resource for portraits (he is a master) and so much more. Best of luck with your continued artwork!
Wonderful Family Portrait Anu ...
Thanks a lot for recom me to look for Harley Brown...Bartos.
